I've left behind a resume filled with preppy retail (Structure and Eddie Bauer) and almost a decade in journalism to embrace my inner geek.

I've been blessed with an incredible wife and two gorgeous children. We live in beautiful Port Royal, S.C.

Why Fuse 843? Because there's a generation of 'Creatives' coming behind us.

wrote this blog for the Fuse843 site but also wanted to share it on my personal blog.
Why Fuse843?
We’ve already offered a couple of answers for that since we went live about a month ago.
We need to connect. We need to know that there are others like us out there. We need to promote, support and learn from each other.
But we also need to understand that there’s another local generation of ‘creatives’ coming in behind us, and we need to be there to support them.
Last week a group called LOUD (Living Out Ur Dreams) held a fundraiser at The Gallery in Beaufort.
LOUD is a program that engages students in after-school activities. Through hands-on activities, mentoring, presentations and field trips students discover the world of music, spoken word art, and university life.
LOUD serves about 25 students from the Burton and Lady’s Island areas. On average, each LOUD student spends 160 after-school hours per semester in the program.
Last week’s fundraiser was to raise money for the kids to visit Full Sail University in Orlando. Full Sail is one of the country’s leading institutions for advanced degrees in media arts.
This is what being a member of the Creative Class is all about. It’s community building and innovation. It’s supporting the economy and those who are coming behind us. It’s about Living out Our Dreams!
